Shwmae! The ultimate greeting.
Use it with anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Watch the first minute of this video, then say a big "Shwmae!" to everyone you meet!
Diwrnod Shwmae Su'mae is the day when everyone greets each other in Welsh. Why? Because it means that everyone, Welsh speaking or not, can be a part of our amazing Welsh bilingual community.
It doesn't matter who you are, what you do, where you're from, or what your first language is. Just smile and say "Shwmae!"
And if you enjoy "Shwmae!", imagine how much fun you could have with a few more words.
Most of the staff at Calon Tysul are bilingual. Those who don't (yet) speak much Welsh are learning more and more to be able to help customers, and to have all kind of interesting conversations in Welsh.
So, start every conversation in Welsh. If you are just starting out speaking Welsh, you'll get some great speaking experience. If you are already a confident speaker, you can help our new speakers become more and more comfortable.
Read on to find our how you can speak more Welsh at Calon Tysul.
Follow the same practical Welsh course as our staff.
