The decline of the Welsh language over the last few centuries is in the past. We need to set our own course for the future.

Cydsiarad's mission is to welcome new people to the Welsh-speaking community.

Learning a new language is tough.  Using a new language is even tougher when it's with people who are also comfortable with using your main language. This is one of the main stumbling blocks for Welsh learners trying to become Welsh speakers.

So CydSiarad are setting out to create a place where:

• Welsh is the main language and English is only there to help with the Welsh
• new speakers will experience and get used to enjoyment and friendship in Welsh
• all speakers will be challenged and supported to reach whatever standard is right for them
• new speakers can build and strengthen their relationship with the language, with other Welsh speakers and the community
• new and experienced speakers can find new friendships

dSiarad will lead new speakers to the heart of Welsh-speaking society

We want to:

• create opportunities for learners to become speakers, and for speakers to help each other to develop
• publish new resources, and point people to existing resources, so that everyone is able to grow in their own way
• create and support a central place where anyone can join in the work of attracting and helping newcomers to the language
